Preservation Planning

Historic preservation plays a critical role in "Smart Growth." Whether in rural areas or cities, the preservation of historic properties is an important way by which communities can ensure a diversity of building stock, the visual vitality of their streets and landscapes, and their quality of life.

MDKA has participated in the preparation and/or evaluation of numerous preservation planning documents, including historic preservation elements of municipal master plans, district-wide cultural resource surveys, and preservation plans for individual historic properties and sites.

MDKA has also evaluated the historic preservation aspects of proposed new development projects for developers, neighbors, and planning boards.
